HTC Touch 3G Review

HTC Touch 3G Review

HTC has been in full throttle producing their Touch series over the last year, the whole time keeping touch with the signature stuff which is what makes HTC special. So what is so special about this one? Let’s find out.

Being somewhat smaller but looks about the same, it is much narrower and lighter than the Touch Viva. Also, the chassis is made of the stuff practically every HTC phone is made with, which is fingerprint resistant and is available in a wide range of colors. The touchscreen was also found to be very sharp and bright, being very responsive to touch commands.

Navigation is a piece of cake too. There is an included stylus, but you can control the menu using just your fingers (that is the whole idea behind the HTC Touch Series actually) to scroll through contacts, launch media and browse the web one handed. The Touch 3G sports a rudimentary 3.2 megapixel camera that has no autofocus, no LED lighting or self-portrait mirror. The back cover comes off to reveal the battery and microSD card slot. Thankfully, you don’t have to remove the battery to access the memory card slot, so switching cards while the phone is on, is possible.

As for charging the thing, you only have a single mini-USB port and it is all you will have for syncing, charging and so on and so forth. Luckily, there is a power adapter included in the package so you don’t have to stick the Touch 3G to a PC (or a laptop, whichever you prefer) just to charge it.

The TouchFlo app, for the Touch 3G has been given a revamp here. With all the fancy animation removed and the generous 192MB of RAM the Touch 3G has, TouchFlo is really fast. There were no slow down and using the interface was absolutely delightful.

If you want all the super high end features and all that extra jazz, the Touch 3G isn’t exactly the best choice but if you’re one who needs a Windows Mobile PDA-phone which is fast and efficient (minus all the customized interfaces) of course, the HTC Touch 3G is the phone for you.
